Mistake 6 - Failure to test alarm priorities

Mistake 6 – Failure to test alarm priorities

Another mistake we mad when deploying a PAGA system, mistake 6 –  failure to test alarm priorities & Not verifying that emergency alarms override normal announcements.

Skipping alarm priority tests in a PAGA system may seem minor, but it can lead to serious risks.

How did this happen?

Failure to test alarm priorities can occur when wiring inside the system gets mixed up, alarms don’t match their correct sounds.

For example, Alarm 1 could end up playing Alarm 5’s sound. This happens because the cables weren’t checked properly after installation.

And why is this dangerous? In an emergency, the wrong alarm could play. People might not realize it’s a real emergency—or worse, routine alarms could block urgent announcements.

That confusion can waste precious time, and offshore, every second counts.

What’s the Fix:

  • Always double-check the wiring.
  • During testing, make sure each alarm plays the right sound.
  • And confirm that emergency messages always override any other alarms.

That way, when it matters most, the system gives the right signal at the right time. We make sure that we Test Alarm Priorities. Double-check, test, and make sure emergencies always come first.
